FOOD & DRINK
North Creek/Johnsburg- Capri has excellent pizza. Marsha’s, a classic hometown diner, serves breakfast and lunch. Café Sarah is a great bakery with lite breakfast options and great sandwiches. Andi’s at Smith’s offers hometown cooking for lunch and dinner. Black Mountain Lodge has a very good casual dinner and a nice convivial bar. BarVino is a wine bar with “big wines, small plates” and great microbrews. Laura’s Bar is a great local hang-out and be sure to try the pulled pork sandwich. Durant’s, just south of town on Rt 28 will be open by ski season! The Ski Bowl Deli is also within walking distance! Copperfield’s offers the casual Trapper’s and the fine dining Lorenzo’s. Check out the bar at the Inn at Gore Mountain for après ski and stay for dinner.
Chestertown-The Friends Lake Inn. They have a fine dining menu and great wine list in the historic main dining room and they offer a light menu in the Bistro. Main St Ice Cream, is the quintessential luncheon spot but they also serve an additional entrée or 2 in the evening. Be sure to save room for dessert! OP Fredericks has casual fare, burgers and such but also nice pasta, chicken and beef entrees. Good food and a nice bar in a nice casual setting. The Place serves casual Italian. Suzy Q’s in Brant Lake is also casual fare with an Adirondack motif, Anywhere’s is a bar in Chestertown that serves a great burger. Luna Pizza serves homemade pizza fare – try their white pizza….
Diamond Point- The Inn at Erlowest is a magnificent renovated mansion on "Millionaires" row. It is fine dining in a very intimate luxurious atmosphere. Enjoy a drink before dinner on the porch overlooking beautiful Lake George.
Pottersville- Cafe Adirondack is a BYOB with good food. The Wells House’s restaurant called Once Upon a Moose Café has both a lite menu and a formal menu.
Warrensburg-The Grist Mill (only open Mother’s Day-November 1st) in Warrensburg overlooks the Schroon River and is a very old renovated Grist Mill. It has very good steak and seafood. If you have time you should plan on having a drink in the bar area- it’s a really nice bar- very cozy and romantic. The Merrill Magee House in the middle of town is a lovely historic building with good food. Bring a good appetite to Brunetto’s for great continental and Italian fare for dinner.
Bolton Landing- on Lake George has a nice downtown shopping-restaurant-bar area to park and walk through, there is a plethora of very good dining options; Michael Arthurs (a steak house with other chicken, fish, and seafood options) Lakeside Lodge Grill -full fine dining menu with lots of options, Fredericks – good food, nice variety. The open air deck is nice in the summer. Cate’s Italian Garden- good Italian, and the Ryefield for casual fun relaxed atmosphere.
Outside of Bolton is the Algonquin- right on the water. Fine dining upstairs and more casual attire in the downstairs. Great afternoon drink spot in the summer. The Sagamore’s Hotel’s, Club Grill (steak and grill fine ding) at the golf course and the main hotel’s Trillium Bis* (very fine dining) are both good options. Its beautiful to walk around the resorts grounds- its an island on Lake George- you drive over their bridge to get to it. In late spring-early autumn Sagamore’s boat, The Morgan, does a lunch and a dinner tour that showcases the spectacular lake’s scenery.
Lake George- Lake George Village does has a lot of casual fare and t-shirt/trinket shops, miniature golf, etc, etc. Long standing restaurants of note are The Log Jam, Mario’s, George's and The Montcalm.
